Our trustees
Our Trustee Board are responsible for overseeing the management of the organisation and determining overall strategic planning. It is made up of volunteer members from different walks of life and different cultural backgrounds drawn from representatives of the local community. The Chief Executive Officer is currently working with trustees to increase the numbers on the Trustee Board and to increase the range of skills that are available for advice and information on strategic, financial and operational matters.
Enfield CAB is looking for more Trustees.
Jeff Rodin (Mr) - Chairman Trustee Board
Jeff worked as a Tax Inspector for the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue & Customs) since 1971. In his career, he was in charge of a number of Tax Offices and was the Inland Revenue's Area Director for North London from 2003-2005. He retired in May 2011.
Jeff was an elected Councillor having represented Bowes Ward on Enfield Council since 1986. He was Leader of the Opposition on the Council from 1989-1994 and again from 2005 to date and was Leader of the Council from 1994-1999. As a Councillor, he always took a close interest in a number of local voluntary organisations, including the Citizens Advice Bureau. Jeff stood down from the Council in May 2010.
Amongst his voluntary work, Jeff is a voluntary driver for Enfield Community Transport, which provides a low cost transport service for a number of local voluntary groups.
Yvonne McMillan (Mrs)
Yvonne is currently a Relationship Support Manager in Barclays Bank Plc Business Team, managing a portfolio of business customers and is responsible for providing all the financial services a business may need. She has worked in banking for 24 years. She has experience in team building and staff management, in the retail sector.
She is a keen advocate of personal growth and has been in peak performance coaching seminars with Anthony Robbins, Iyanla Vanzant and Paul Martinelli.
She has recently embarked on a mentoring programme with Action for Children; being a mentor for children whom other than a social worker and carers may have little contact with adults outside the care system. She is very keen to get involved with local community events.
Her hobbies include jogging, reading, cinema, theatre and good restaurants.
Glyn Jones (Mr)
Glyn is an Enfield resident and was employed for 33 years in local government before taking early retirement from the London Borough of Enfield where he was Head of Traffic and Transportation, and responsible for developing the Council’s Place Shaping Agenda. He currently has a consultancy offering a range of services.
He is a person committed to working to improve local communities. He seeks opportunities to make a contribution to improving the lives of others both now and in the future, as well as helping him meet his own personal objectives.
Glyn has extensive experience of working with local communities and partners. He has a range of skills to offer, from information and technology to finance to the management and development of people. All of which could provide an opportunity to support the Bureau.
Glyn has many leisure interests. He is a keen walker and cyclist and has been active for many years playing and administrating in local sport. He is currently Chairman of Enfield Ignatians Rugby Club.
Terry Rollinson (Mr)
A professionally qualified Human Resources Manager, Terry’s career has been based in both the public and private sectors.
Until recently he was HR Director and National Secretary for YHA, a major national charity, and responsible for the whole HR function and also Charity governance. Previous positions included Company Personnel Manager within the Dickinson Robinson paper and packaging Group, and a period with the Commission on Industrial Relations.
Having taken early retirement in March 2006, Terry is now working with a couple of Charities and taking on some consultancy projects in the HR/Charity sectors.
Vyomesh Thanki (Mr)
Vyomesh manages a range of innovative services in the London Borough of Southwark to support families in order to prevent children entering the local authority care system.
Vyomesh was previously a lecturer at the University of Warwick for four years training student social workers. Prior to that he was a Senior Social Worker employed by the London Borough of Islington. He started his social work career working for Hampshire County Council.
Vyomesh has been involved with Enfield CAB since 1994 and has been a member of the Trustee Board since its inception.
Jeffrey Hopwood (Mr)
Jeffrey is currently the resources and partnerships manager in Camden Council’s community development and regeneration division, managing funding for the voluntary and community sector, and working with residents and councillors in neighbourhood partnerships.
Before working in the public sector he worked in banking for 22 years. He has experience of finance and budget management, team building and staff management, and project and programme management.
Jeffrey has an MA in Urban Regeneration and qualifications in marketing and purchasing and supply. He has lived in Enfield for most of his life.
Megan McNutt (Ms)
Megan first became involved in Citizens Advice during her second year at university when she worked as a volunteer General Adviser in two Bureaux in Glasgow. During the following summer she also worked as an adviser in a Citizens Information Centre in Ireland.
After graduating Megan worked in legal education for two years; first at the Citizenship Foundation, a legal education and participation charity, and then at Inner Temple, one of the four barrister Inns of Court. She is currently studying to qualify as a solicitor. Megan has been a member of the Board of Trustees since September 2009.
Robin Charnley (Mr)
Robin has a wide range of experience in local government and voluntary sector public services. After a brief episode as a teacher, he moved onto youth work and then career guidance with school leavers.
He spent over a decade running an adult guidance service in Barnet before moving briefly into community economic development. Most recently he was Chief Officer of a voluntary organisation in Hertfordshire and will shortly be taking up a new voluntary sector role in Haringey. Robin has worked with the voluntary sector, including CAB services, in many of his previous roles.
He is an Enfield resident and welcomes the opportunity to support the vital work of the Bureau during a challenging period for public funding.
Bernice Groom (Mrs)
Bernice Groom has worked as an HR Manager in the public sector for 27 years, half of this time within the NHS and the other half in Local Government. She has a degree in Social Science, a postgraduate diploma in Personnel Management and is a Corporate Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.
Bernice was Vice Chair of Governors of an Enfield school for a number of years and was also Chair of it’s Staffing Committee. In addition to her Trustee role at Enfield CAB, Bernice is training to be a Gateway Assessor at the Bath CAB branch where she spends some of her time.
Bernice volunteered to be a Trustee as she was aware that the CAB felt additional HR experience on its Board would be useful. She is eager to work to assist people within her local community.
Bernice is a keen walker and also trains regularly at the gym. She also enjoys reading and is interested in domestic architecture and social history.
Reza Choudhury (Mr)
Reza qualified at the Bar in 2003 from Middle Temple and practiced for a few years until he cross-qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate at the beginning of 2007. He specialises in employment, landlord & tenant/housing, social security law, and general civil litigation. He regularly appears in Court undertaking trial and other advocacy work. He has had a long relationship with ECAB having previously run legal rota on welfare benefits cases.
Reza serves as a governor at Stratford School. He also sits on the Education Appeal Panel adjudicating on admission appeal cases. He frequently appears on a live legal TV programme discussing and addressing topical legal queries.
In his leisure time Reza enjoys fencing and playing badminton. He is a keen traveller and has an avid interest in current affairs, history and politics.
